Stories of success from the frontline

Training that our people rely on

We are an international law firm with seven offices across the UK and approximately 1,200 employees. We have been working with Jane Cattermole and her team for the past ten years.

At the start of our relationship with Jane, we were struck by her knowledge and experience. Throughout our partnership, we have admired her professionalism and style of delivery.

Jane is very approachable and great to work with. Some of the content she delivers can be challenging and triggering for people – but Jane is great at putting everyone at ease, and she listens to what everyone has to say.

Typically, Jane's delivery method for us is mostly online, with the occasional face-to-face session. Jane understands our business and her flexible approach ensures that whatever the training is, it fits our firm.

We've used Jane for Mental Health First Aid training, refresher and general awareness training and specific training for managers. More than 300 of our managers have attended one of Jane's sessions.

Our people have grown accustomed to Jane, and that continuity has built enormous trust, which is vital when delivering this type of training.

More than a consultant

We are a global technology leader probably best known for our work in the defence, aerospace, space and cybersecurity sectors.

We have around 7,000 employees in the UK, and my job is looking at the ways each of them can bring their best self to work each day.

I’ve known Jane for the best part of 10 years, from when I received my original MHFA training from her. Since I have been in my current role, leading Wellbeing for the organisation, I have come to see Jane as a trusted sounding board for ideas on how we can do things that make a real difference to our people.

We meet regularly to share ideas and insights. I always look forward to our discussions because Jane is just such a dynamic and creative person, more like a friend and colleague than an outside consultant.

We talk about the ways we can make our wellbeing strategy current and relevant. Jane is a brilliant at that: She gives us insight into what’s happening with other progressive organisations and helps us to refine and define our own support.

I have total confidence in Jane and her excellent team, and I really value our open and collaborative relationship.

Completely authentic

I worked with Jane in my previous role with the UK arm of a multi-national business and, without doubt, she is the best at what she does.

Jane is just so genuine and natural, and you feel safe with her when you are talking about very difficult and sensitive subjects. I have gone to Jane for advice so many times. I trust her implicitly.

As well as mental health first aid training, in response to a couple of troubling incidents, Jane put together a bespoke session on how to deal with people in crisis. All I had to do was pick up the phone and tell her what was going on, and she knew exactly the best way forward.

Whenever we did mental health first aid conferences, Jane was there, a central part of our network, trusted by everybody.

Jane has worked with a number of male-dominated businesses like my old company was back in 2018 when I started there. She understands the challenges and the different approaches required to manage mental health in that space.

There’s no side to Jane. She is completely authentic, and the way she shares her own personal experiences and vulnerabilities is very powerful. I would love to work with her again.

A perfect partnership

We’re a global mobility company best known for car rental. I have been working with Jane since 2022 when I moved across from my previous role as HR Manager, but the company’s relationship with Jane goes back around 10 years or so.

We have 350 Mental Health First Aiders in the UK and Ireland. Jane carried out the original training and takes care of the refresher training.

What I love about Jane is she’s very progressive; always looking for ways she can support us a business. She is very approachable, an excellent communicator, and she’s highly responsive: there for us whenever we need her.

Training isn’t cheap, and it’s hard to put numbers on what it actually delivers. But the fact we’ve been working together so long tells you exactly how we see our partnership with Jane: it’s an investment and a relationship we value tremendously.
